
Paul A. Hasenzahl, 90, of Bellville, died January 22, 2009 at Lexington Court Care Center. Born June 28, 1918 in Mansfield, he was the son of William and Olive Mabel Freed Hasenzahl. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Paul retired from Westinghouse after 35 years of service. He had also worked at Neff's, Foodtown, and Stoodts in Bellville. Paul was a member of Victory Baptist Church where he enjoyed driving the church bus. A devoted Cleveland Indians and Ohio State fan, Paul also loved to bowl and participated in numerous leagues.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Fern Spohn Hasenzahl; three daughters, Joyce Russell of Bellville, Paula Bill Lyman of Fairview, North Carolina, and Dolly James Daugherty of Mansfield; ten grandchildren, Justin Ivone Russell, Jeremy Julie Russell, Wesley Sons, Laura Krizan, Lindsay Michael Goldsmith, Margaret Lyman, Mattea Lyman, Jennifer Dominic Morris, Jessica Darrick Kanady, and Jason Brooke Banks; and eight great-grandchildren, Hailey Russell, Zachary, Noelle, Katie, and Antonio Morris, Ethan Kanady, and Jagger and Layla Banks. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marie Hoffman and Mary Elizabeth Minard; and brother, Robert Hasenzahl.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, January 25, 2009 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Victory Baptist Church conducted by Pastor John A. Wiseman. Military graveside services conducted by the Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Detail will follow in Little Washington Cemetery.
