Born February 10, 1944, in Massillon, Ohio, to the late Adam and Glenna (Speer) Price, Peggy lived a life marked by compassion, generosity, and joyful service to others. From her early years, she developed a love for horseback riding and spent many cherished moments with her two horses. That love for animals continued throughout her life.
Peggy was deeply involved in her community. She volunteered at Malabar Farm and The Renaissance Theatre, always giving her time and energy with a smile. A woman of deep faith, she was very active in her church—formerly St. Timothy’s, now Hope Lutheran—where she helped feed the homeless and faithfully assisted with funeral meals.
A dedicated educator, Peggy spent her career teaching in the Ashland City and Crestview Schools. Her care for students extended far beyond the classroom; she followed their lives, celebrated their milestones, and consistently went above and beyond to support them.
She enjoyed traveling and had a special fondness for bus trips, with a journey to Alaska standing out as her favorite. Peggy also found joy in the beauty of her own backyard, taking great pride in her flowers and landscaping.
Crafting was another of her passions. She taught craft classes at Lakeside and was a member of a craft club in Bucyrus. She especially loved babies and was known for making baby blankets for any expecting family or friend.
Peggy treasured her family above all. She is survived by her loving children, son Andy Spellman and daughter Amy (Brent) Chance; grandchildren Brett Chance (fiancée Jericka) and Kelcie Chance; and great-granddaughter Hallie Chance. She is also survived by her brother Larry Price and lifelong friend Pat Lawrence.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Dean Price.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Peggy’s life at a visitation at 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and again on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM. A memorial service will follow Thursday morning at 11:00 AM.
