
Rev. Phillip Shirrell Rose, Sr., 66, of Mansfield, went to be with his Lord and Saviour Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at MedCentral Hospital. Born March 23, 1943 in Clintwood, VA, he was the son of Willard and Gertrude Fleming Rose. He was the former pastor of the House of Prayer and Worship. One of his greatest joys in life was quoting and discussing the Bible with his family and friends. His other joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchild whom he spent many nights praying with as they fell asleep. He adored his loving wife, Susan, of 41 years, whom he married February 3, 1968. His favorite pastimes included being in the outdoors and hunting, riding horses, and even using those horses for wagon rides.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Kimble Rose of Mansfield; children, Teresa Mark Dickison and Veronica Steve Wallace, all of Fredericktown, Phillip Misty Rose, Jr. of Davenport, IA, Peggy John Butt of Mansfield, and Jason Melissa Rose of Lima; 16 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; sisters, Imogene Rose and Kathleen Webb, both of Mansfield, Christine Kline of Butler, and Lois Buckler of Olive Hill, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his step father, Ellis Hess; brothers, Delmon, Tilden, Lowell, and Jackie Rose; and sisters, Greta Rose, Vercia Kodak, and Angelena Rose.
Family and friends may call Sunday, August 30, 2009 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 31, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home, conducted by Pastor Aaron Boggs. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
