
R. D. 'Duck' DeLoach, Sr., 59, of Mansfield, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born May 7, 1947, in Macon, Mississippi, he was the son of Ben Robert and Amy Lee Mason DeLoach. In 1972, he gave his life to the Lord at Jerusalem Church. He was currently employed at Quality Castings. Mr. DeLoach was a State Deacon and Trustee at Cornerstone Tabernacle of Praise. He enjoyed spending time with his family and helping others in the community. R. D. mastered many trades in his lifetime. He was incredibly generous with and completely devoted to his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary Miller DeLoach; two sons, Minister R. D. Jr. LaToya DeLoach and Andrew Allison DeLoach, all of Mansfield; four daughters, Pearlie William Newbern, Rockie M. Jones, both of Mansfield, Rita Sterling Gunn and Teresa Bush, all of Columbus, MS; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Rosie Mae DeLoach of Columbus, MS; a brother, Tommy Lee Cribbs of Columbus, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, Ben William and Lonnie C. DeLoach and a sister, Pearlie Mae DeLoach.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 7 at 10:00 a.m. at Maddox Memorial Church of God in Christ with Bishop Riley L. Dawson of Cleveland officiating. Friends may call at the church one-hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Immediately following the interment, a dinner will be served at 32 N. Walnut St. Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements.
