
Ray Linger, 95, of Bellville, died Saturday, July 29, 2006 at Country Meadows Nursing Home in Bellville after a two-week stay. Born March 5, 1911 in Vandalia, West Virginia, he was the son of Charles Luther and Marietta House Linger. Mr. Linger moved to the area in 1940. He was employed at Mansfield Tire and Rubber Company in 1941 and retired in 1972. A member of the 25 Year Club, he loved gardening, working outdoors, and reading his Bible.
He is survived by his second wife, Margaret Mary Hyer Ocheltree Linger, whom he married April 24, 1995; one daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis Janet Gunlock and Edward Alford of Tehachapi, California; one son and daughter-in-law, Eddie J. and Loretta Whitesel Linger of Loudonville; five grandchildren, Kenneth Diane and Daniel Cheryl Gunlock, both of Tehachapi, California, Michael Ray Darla Linger of Ashland, Stephen Lawrence Nancy Linger of New Port Richey, Florida, and Deborah Ellen Steven Spreng of Loudonville; nine great-grandchildren; stepson and daughter-in-law, Fred J. and Ida Mae Walker Ocheltree of Bellville; one stepdaughter, Chelva Jean Ocheltree Troupe of Berlington, Washington; two step daughters-in-law, Janet Ocheltree of Bellville, and Janet Ocheltree of Berlington, Washington; and 13 step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mary Maxine Rogers Linger; and 12 brothers and sisters.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home conducted by Bill Secrist. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Bellville Jefferson Township Fire Department.
