

Raymond E. Owens, 83, of Mansfield died Thursday, June 7 after an extended illness. He was born April 14, 1918 in Akron to Ernest and Norma Owens. Mr. Owens was a sales manager at Gorman Rupp Co. specializing in government sales for 37 years. He attended the First Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Venus Lodge #152 F & AM, and the Aviation Club. Mr. Owens was a long time flight instructor for many years. Aviation was his baby for many years since his teens. He was an avid skier and jogger. He also was a volunteer at MedCentral Mansfield.
He is survived by his wife, Melba Owens; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Gary and Sue Owens, Jeff and Sandra Owens and Dr. Greg and Deborah Owens all of Mansfield; four grandchildren; Mark Owens of Columbus; Roxanne Kennedy and her husband, Christopher of Dallas, Georgia; Bryan Owens and his wife, Cynthia; and Bradley Owens of Mansfield; four great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Orland Carpenter of Akron; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Ellie Owens of Akron and Eugene and Arlene Owens of Detroit, Michigan.
Friends may call Sunday, June 10 from 2-5 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 11 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Dennis Allison officiating. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church USA or the donor's choice.
