
Richard M. 'Dick' 'Red' Arnold, 84, of Mansfield, died Sunday, June 10, 2007 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following a brief illness. Born December 13, 1922 in Bluffton, he was the son of Edward and Martha McHenry Arnold. Mr. Arnold graduated from Madison High School in 1940 and served in the U.S. Army Airforce as a Sergeant. He retired from The Ohio Brass in the 1980's. Mr. Arnold was a member of First United Methodist Church, formerly of Central United Methodist Church. He had been on the Board of Trustees at Central United Methodist Church and also helped with repairs and painting on the parsonage. Mr. Arnold was also a member of the VFW, American Legion, and Masonic Lodge, and spent winters in Ft. Myers, Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alma M. McCoy, whom he married April 16, 1946; son, Thomas Arnold of Columbus; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and May Arnold of Mansfield; sisters-in-law, Alice Morgan and Allene Gibson; nieces and nephews, Jo Ann, Diane, Kathlene, Pam, Valerie, Tim, and Casey; and cousin, Betty Bagli of Milan. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clarence Arnold; three sisters-in-law, Esther Wolken, Alta Redman, and Katherine Arnold; and three brothers-in-law, Bruce Morgan, Frank McCoy, and Sonny Redman.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors where Masonic Services will be held at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Charles Tobias. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
