

Born November 23, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois he was the son of Charles and Mabel Elizabeth (Prettyman) Greer. A veteran of the United States Army he served during the Korean War and worked for the Newark Airforce Base as a civilian retiring after 30 years of service as a technician. He was very mechanically inclined and loved to work on his cars, computers and anything that was technological. He was also involved with Food for Children and would volunteer with his son Rick when he was visiting him in New Hampshire. Very independent and young at heart ~ he always lived life to the fullest and enjoyed playing volleyball, badmitten and cornhole but his greatest enjoyment were his grandchildren whom he dearly loved.
He is survived by three sons, Samuel Greer, Richard “Ricky” (Annette) Greer and Paul (Cindy) Greer; grandchildren, Heather (Kevin) Greer Klein, Dillon Greer, Nicholas Greer, Jenna Greer, Nathan Greer, Brian Burchfield and Chris Burchfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty June (Webb) Greer on June 7, 1980 and a brother, Hallard Greer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 3, 2012 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario conducted by Pastor Michael Workman. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park where full military services will be conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. Friends may call prior to the service from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
