Richard "Rick" L. Stoner, 78, of Mansfield passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was the son of Bushnell and Lela Mae (Wolfe) Stoner, and was born on March 25, 1940 in Mansfield, Ohio.
Rick grew up in the Amoy Ganges area and was a 1958 graduate of Union High School. He started his career at A&P Grocery but his true passion was his friends and family from Kroger where he was employed and retired after 45 years. A devoted husband, loving father and a wonderful grandfather. He was a handy man who was always helping others and had the tools to perform any task at hand. Rick loved being around people and never met a stranger. Often you would find him meeting up with high school buddies or the Kroger retirees to catch up. He had a passion for fishing and was always found working the smoker for family gatherings. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching wrestling, football and basketball and could be found cheering on the Cleveland Indians.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Betty (Keinath) Stoner; his daughters, Stacey (Christopher) Baldasare, Angela (Bryan) Pfieffer, and Lucinda Spencer all of Mansfield; grandchildren, Christopher and Alexander Baldasare and Lauren and Gracie Pfieffer; brother, Robert Stoner of Belle Center, Ohio; sister, Iris Reddy of Lufkin, Texas; brothers-in-law, Marvin (Joyce) Keinath, Elwood (Dianne) Keinath and David Keinath all of Mansfield and Larry (Sherry) Keinath of Lucas; sister-in-law, Iris Trumpower of Mansfield; many nieces, nephews and other relatives; special neighbors, Jim and Dorothy Pinkston; and good friends, Larry Thompson, Larry Burkepile, and Johnny Pagani. Rick will be missed by his family, friends, and beloved cat, Blackie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Richard Reddy and Norman Trumpower; and sister-in-law, Margaret Keinath.
Family and friends may visit on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington Springmill Road from 4:00-7:00 pm. Rev. Glenn Phillips will officiate the funeral service at 2:00 pm on Monday, June 25, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
