Richard Whisler

Richard Warren Whisler, 59, of Mansfield, died Monday, December 18, 2006 at his home after an extended illness. Born November 8, 1947 in Mansfield, he was the son of William Earl and Neoma Moore Whisler. He retired from BFI and enjoyed fishing. Mr. Whisler was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Smith Whisler; three children and their spouses, Mechelle and Andrew Boroff, Richard and Jennifer Whisler, all of Lucas, and Melinda and Dave Dilyard of Lancaster; stepchildren and their spouses, Dan and Michelle Shaffer of Mansfield, Donna and Charles Wininger of Louisiana and Chris Flannigan of Florida; several grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Randy May of Lexington; two brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Michelle Whisler of Butler, and Donald and Theresa Whisler of Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 22 at 1:00 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors with Rev. Christopher Thomas officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
