
Robert G. 'Bob' Armstrong, 57, of Mansfield, died Saturday morning, Sept 17, 2005 of a heart attack. Born June 18, 1948 in Mansfield, he was the son of Jack R. and Margaret Keiser Armstrong. Mr. Armstrong graduated in 1966 from Malabar High School. He was currently employed with Sprint for over 35 years, where he served as President of Local 688 IBEW Union for many years. . He worked for the family business, Armstrong's Auto Wrecking, from the time he was twelve years old until 1970, when the business was sold. From 1981 to 2000, he was a ranger for Charles Mill Lake. He was a Past President and current member of the Fraternal Order of Police Association. From 1984 to 1999, he served on the Richland County Sheriff's Deputy Special Division, and retired as captain. During the 1990's, he also worked on the Marine Patrol Division of the Sheriff's Department. Mr. Armstrong was the number one fan of the Madison Rams Volleyball Program.
He is survived by his wife, Jeri Armstrong, whom he married March 31, 2000; mother, Margaret 'Bert' Armstrong of Mansfield; Debby Armstrong; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Robin and Jeff Barrett, of Mansfield, Lisa and Barry Rodeheffer, of Union City, and Cara Knapp of Mansfield; three grandchildren, Nathan and Hope Barrett, and Adam Robert Rodeheffer; two dogs, Elvis and Roxy, whom he loved dearly; numerous friends; and his extended lake family. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack R. Armstrong.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, September 22, 2005 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Charles Tobias. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Madison Rams Volleyball Program.
