Robert O. Emerson, 86, of Mansfield, died Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Woodlawn Nursing Home. Born March 5, 1922 in Celina, he was the son of Russell and Miriam Shults Emerson. Robert served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He retired from Westinghouse after 44 years of service. Robert enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, and Bingo. He had also managed Little League Baseball.
He is survived by his wife, Viola B. Miller Emerson; daughter, Cynthia Emerson of Mansfield; son, Kenneth Emerson of Ladson, South Carolina; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and eight sisters, Betty Perry of Mansfield, Mabel Jordan of Wooster, Daisy Hardy of Medina Gladys Maxhimer, Miriam Moore, Martha Robertson, Rhea Daugherty, and Patricia Chelski all of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, John and Bill Emerson.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2008 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
