Robert A. First

Robert A. First, 73, of Galion, passed away Saturday morning, February 18, 2017, at Country Meadows Care Center in Bellville, Ohio. He was born February 14, 1944, in Barberton, Ohio, to the late Clifton Willard First and Evelyn Elizabeth Zoll First.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and had an amazing life. He retired from J & B Acoustical and was a member of Local #1216. Living a life filled with adventure, he was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed building and fixing sprint cars and motorcycles with his friends. Robert raised horses and would show them at the Richland County Fair when he was in school. His love of horses remained into adulthood. Robert was a drummer with Tommy Z and the Sleepers in the 1960s. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Carol Meyers First; children, Shelly Philpott, Erick (Valerie) First, Brandy (David II) Yockey, Aaron First; step-daughter, Michelle Meyers; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Sue First and dear friend Roger Rush. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Sallee First; infant daughter, Phyllis Gene First; a brother, Ronald First; and his step mother, Irene First.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family. Wappner Cremation Center is privileged to serve the family.
