Robert E. "Hemi" Hagedorn, 76, of Mansfield, died early Friday morning, December 5, 2014 in Kindred Hospital. He was born December 1, 1938, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late Margaret (Bielstein) and Clifford Hagedorn.
He was a veteran of the 179th Fighter Group of the Ohio Air National Guard and member of the Huron Eagles club. He began his career as a die setter at Tenney Tool and retired from American Tool and Die after many years of service. His hobbies included building models of cars, planes, trains, and rockets. You name anything with a motor in it and Hemi was interested in it. He was an avid reader and enjoyed playing games and photography. A lover of nature, Hemi was right at home fishing and camping.
In 1960, he married the love of his life, Gloria Jeanne Prosser and she preceded him in death on June 30, 2005. Spending time with his family was Hemi's number one priority. He was quite the prankster and enjoyed out-doing everyone else in the name of fun.
He is survived by a daughter, Cindy (Jim) Enzor; sons, Robin (Sharla) Hagedorn, with whom he made his home and Todd (Teresa) Hagedorn; grandchildren, Amanda (Andrew) Smith, Aaron (Shannon) Hagedorn, Ashley (Ben) DeUnger, Danielle Conley, Wesley (Mollie) Hagedorn, Alanna and Kyndall Hagedorn, Ashley Johnson, Timmy Johnson (Morgan Rasnake) and Akili Johnson; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Hunter, Blake, Kaylee, Colten, Skylie, Landon, Mason, Jerrick, Connor and Leo; and two more great-grandchildren on the way, Emma and Shiann. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Roxanne.
Honoring Hemi's request, there will be no services or visitation at this time. The family would like to extend their special thanks to his home health care aides who took such great care of Hemi. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family.
