Robert Hartman

Robert L. Hartman, 85, of Mansfield, died Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at Lexington Court Care Center. Born April 29, 1920 in Shelby, he was the son of Harry and Gladys Hartman. Mr. Hartman served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater, following WWII. He retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. A member of the VFW Post #7651, and a lifetime member of the Amvets Post #31, he was an avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife Jane C. Bearer Hartman of Mansfield; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and David Ison of Oak Harbor, and Jackie and Tom Dunn of Ontario; three sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Mary Hartman of Pickerington, Richard and Jeanie Hartman of Lexington, and Jerry Hartman of Mansfield; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Hartman; one brother, Cloyd; and one sister, Helen.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2006 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Friends may also call one hour prior to the 1 p.m. funeral service Saturday at the funeral home conducted by Rev. James Winkler. Military graveside services conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Soldiers and Sailors Hospital.
