

Robert Lee "Bob" Heldreth, 89, of Mansfield passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. He was born in Shinnston, West Virginia on October 2, 1928. He was the beloved son of Edgar and Reva (Orr) Heldreth.
Robert was a graduate of Shinnston High School and received his bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of West Virginia. Bob put himself through college while working in the coal mines of West Virginia. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for 32 years at Westinghouse as an engineer. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church on the Square where he served as an usher, greeter and fifteen years as Sunday School Superintendent. He was a joyful man who loved being with his family and always had a big smile to share. He enjoyed bus trips, sports, working in the yard, conversations with his wife, reading, visits with his family and traveling. He was a long time Cincinnati Reds fan.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy Heldreth of Mansfield; his sons, Mark (Joy) Heldreth of Warsaw, IN and Scott (Kelli) Heldreth of New Franklin, OH; three grandchildren, John Heldreth of Vicenza, Italy, James Heldreth and Sarah Heldreth both of Warsaw, IN; a sister, Joy Lou Kubas of Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Norma Jean Moore of Michigan and Edna Danals of Newark; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of very good friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Martha (John) Rogers; a brother, Edward Heldreth; a daughter-in-law, Peggy Heldreth; and brothers-in-law, John Kubas, Bob (Betty) Moore, Kenneth Moore, Eddie Lake and Ron Danals.
The family will welcome guests from 10am-12pm on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church, 12 N. Diamond Street. Rev. Donald Kuntz will officiate the funeral service at 12pm at the church. Burial will take place at Mansfield Memorial Park at 2:30pm with military services conducted by Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Squad. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Bob's name to Hurricane Relief Fund Samaritan's Purse, PO Box 3000 Boone, NC 28607 or to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the family of Bob Heldreth.
