Robert Neal

Robert S. Neal, 73, of Mansfield, died Friday, November 21, 2008, at his residence. Born February 4, 1935, in Clinchco, VA, he was the son of Cara P. and Sally Morgan Neal. A veteran of the United States Marines, he retired from General Motors after 51½ years of service as a crane operator. He was a very active member of The Salvation Army and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and

great-grandfather. Robert was a member of VFW #7651 in Ontario, Moose Lodge #303 in Galion, the Marquise Lodge F&AM and the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton. An avid hunter and outdoorsman, he was a life member of the NRA and the Crawford County Coon Hunters and Sportsmans Club.

Surviving are his wife, Geraldine Sparks Neal; a son, Bobby P. Barbie Neal of Mansfield; step children, Danette Hilton of Canton, Jeff Laughlin of Akron, Cheryl Laughlin of Orange, CA and Kimberly Bruce Witting of Webster City, Iowa; grandchildren, Amanda Michael Carpenter, D.J. Moyer and Andrea Neal; four step grandchildren; great grandchildren, Keirstyn, Allaura, Shawn, Micha and Austin; sisters, Frances Olen Rose and Joyce Kenny Paramore; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and two brothers.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2008, at the funeral home conducted by Major Jacqueline Todhunter with additional calling from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Burial will follow in Ontario Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army.
