

Robert Paul Ziegler, 52, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, August 6, 2011 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born November 2, 1958 in Mansfield, he was a lifelong area resident. He graduated in 1976 from Mansfield Senior High School where his favorite sport was baseball. Robert was a member of St. Mary of the Snows Catholic Church and the V.F. W. Post #3494. He was always happy and enjoyed sharing his jokes with others. Robert enjoyed gardening, playing cards, golf and cooking; especially when he shared this with his family during their gatherings. True to his nature as a giving person, Robert donated blood regularly to the American Red Cross and gave the gift of life to others through the donation of his organs with Lifeline of Ohio.
He is survived by his mother, Pauline M. (Studer) Ziegler; son, Eric (Anny) Ziegler of Columbus; daughter, Laura (John) Garrison of Mansfield; grandson, Braden Garrison; two sisters, Mary (Pete) Leicht of Mansfield and Judy (Jerry) Phillips of Galion; two brothers, Larry (Emily) Ziegler of Mansfield and John (Marlene) Ziegler of Crestview; and eleven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Nicholas J. Ziegler.
Friends may visit from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2011 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. A Vigil Service will be observed at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary of the Snows Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richland County Red Cross.
