
Roger E. Garove, 82, of Mansfield, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware, Ohio. Born March 6, 1927, in Oakmont, PA, he was the son of Francis P. and Mary Marenchin Garove. He retired from General Motors and enjoyed military history. He was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Navy and also had served in the United States Air Force. Roger was a member of the American Legion Club, Shelby and a life member of the National Rifle Association.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Faye Chase Garove whom he married December 29, 1962; five daughters, Laura Jean Smith of Delaware, OH, Julie Marie Robert Wills of High Ridge, MO, Audrey Ann Garove of Frazeysburg, OH, Joyce Ann Stephen Flannery of Lexington, OH and Amy Lynn Garove of Henderson, NV; grandchildren, Rachel May Smith, Emily Catherine Dan Mohr, Abigail Jordan Smith, Stephen Shane Flannery, Sidney Shay Flannery, Sean Logan Flannery, Jennifer Dawn Wills, Katelyn Mary Wills and Harrison Scott Wills; two brothers, Francis "Bunny" Garove of Baltimore, MD and Eugene Garove of Pensacola, FL; two half brothers, James Garove of Meadow Lands, PA and Terrance Garove, Sr. of Washington, PA; two half sisters, Nelma Littleton and Judith Olson both of California. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Richard Allen Garove; sisters, Stella Premick, Doris Blanchard, Mary Matrogan and Patricia Zinn; a brother, Joseph Grove; and a step brother, Donald Kunselman.
Graveside funeral services will be held 12:30 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2009, at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Homereach Hospice, Delaware, Ohio. Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family of Roger E. Garove.
