Roger A. Kimmel, Sr., 90, of Lexington died Friday evening, August 9, 2002 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after a two-week illness. Mr. Kimmel was born December 20, 1911 in Cleveland, Ohio and was an area resident since 1957. He was the owner and operator of Mid-State Claims Service from 1961 to 1988. Roger was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Army. Roger was an adventurer and at the age of 82, he parachuted for the first time and enjoyed rollerblading up to the age of 87.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Roger A. Jr. and Beth A. Kimmel of Aurora, Ohio; a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Cliff Limpert of Medina, Ohio; two grandsons, R. Jason Kimmel of Jacksonville, North Carolina and Ryan Limpert of Lakewood, Ohio; and two granddaughters, Morgan E. Kimmel of Aurora, Ohio and Nicole Ward of Denver, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine S. Kimmel and his parents, Herbert and Helen Rodgers Kimmel.
Services will be held at a later date with burial in Oak Grove Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Hanley Road Baptist Church, Mansfield, Ohio, 44904.
