

Roy Allen “Al” Green, age 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at MedCentral Mansfield with Hospice and family at his bedside. He was born in Wise, VA to the late Thurston and Annabelle (Bennett) Green. Al left home at an early age and joined the Army and then the Navy to serve his country and moved to Mansfield in the early 1950’s. He married Roberta Bunn and began his family of three children, Terri, Joyce, and Scott. Al was a welder, having his own business, and then partnering with Prakash Goyal to form Goyal Industries. His work and bluegrass music were passions and he was excellent at both. After his first wife passed away Al met and married Evelyn (Campbell) Green of Steubenville, OH. He was a member of the First Church of the Open Bible, the American Legion, the Moose, and an avid bowler winning many trophies for his skill.
He is survived by his wife of 16 wonderful years, Evelyn Green of Mansfield; children, Terri (Tom) Smith of Shelby and Scott (Misty) Green of Houston, TX; many beautiful grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Joseph (Anna) Green of Wise, VA; sisters, Lois Bevins of North East, MD and Betty (Frank) Stanley of Wise, VA; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Joyce Mounts and brother, Robert (Mary Faye) Green.
Friends may call Sunday, August 12, 2012 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 13, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. conducted by Dr. John D. Freeman. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross.
