

Roy E. Jerels, 49, of Mansfield, died unexpectedly Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at home. He was born July 28, 1962 in Shelby, Ohio. He was the youngest son of Richard Jerels, Sr. and Joanne Meree (King) Jerels. A 1983 graduate of Lexington High School, Roy worked for Neer Manufacturing for 27 years and was currently employed at McDonalds in the maintenance department.
A hard working, generous, and caring man, who was always helping whoever needed an extra set of hands and especially loved taking care of his daughter, Sarah. He spent much of his time outdoors, whether it was in his yard, camping, or exploring Mohican and the Clearfork Reservoir. He also enjoyed riding around on his motorcycle and doing repairs on cars. Known as "Mr. Fix It", Roy enjoyed working on projects around his home and helping anyone with their own projects. Roy was an avid rock and roll lover. He particularly loved Elvis Presley and visited Graceland with his daughter. They also attended several concerts together.
Surviving are his daughter, Sarah Jerels; his father, Richard Jerels, Sr. of Lexington; a brother, Richard Jerels (Mary Teeter) of Plymouth; five sisters, Mary (Randie) Curtis of Montville, Diane (William) Beatty of Crestline, Dortha (Richard) Griefenstine of Crestline, Luana Mayer of Bellville, and Danette (Robert) Hoover of Dayton. Roy also has 16 nieces and nephews along with 19 great nieces and nephews. Roy was preceded in death by his mother, Joanne Meree Jerels in 1998.
