Ruth Evelyn Bowman, 84, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away Thursday evening, August 1, 2019 at OhioHealth Mansfield. She was born in Mansfield on September 5, 1934 to the late John and Mildred (Nelson) Bachman.
Ruth was a very giving and caring person with a heart full of such a love that she shared it with everyone. She always gave a warm welcome to anyone who would visit her, making them feel right at home by offering tea and food; she was the best cook. Ruth was a hard worker and could always be found cleaning or doing yard work in which she loved to do. She had previously worked in the Emergency Room at Mansfield General Hospital in the 1960's, but spent most of her life caring for her family as a homemaker. She was also a VFW member for a number of years with her husband. With the comfort of her pomeranians and poodles, Ruth loved her dogs very much.
She is survived by her son, Alan Bowman of Lexington; brother, Thomas (Julie) Bachman; sister Shirley Bachman; two nieces, Linda Shultz and Tammy Caruso; and one nephew, James Newman all of Mansfield. In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Max "Doc" Bowman; son, Robert Bowman; sister, Norma; six brothers, Tubby, Richard, James, Ralph, Johnny and Donald; and one niece, Wendy.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 South Diamond Street. A service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. with Celebrant Mark Dettmer officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Richland County.
