Ruth was a graduate of Tallmadge High School, Kent State University with a Bachelor degree in education and Stetson University with a Master Degree in Education. She believed education is the key to a life well lived.
Ruth was a wonderful mom to her three children, Susan, Steven (Stephanie) and Stuart (Linda) Schmidt. She was kind, loving, witty, silly, fun, a fair disciplinarian, supportive, encouraging, compassionate and full of energy. She was the guiding light to them and countless of their friends throughout their lives. In 1992, 1993 and 1995 she became a grandma of Hannah, Seth and Cole. Oh what joy for her! They were the apples of her eye and she fiercely loved them.
Always one with a purpose and goals, she had many hobbies throughout her life: Sewing, knitting, pottery, gardening and decorating. When she retired from the school system at 62, she set a new goal and became a shopkeeper of vintage finds and furniture. She would scour garage sales, estate sales and flea markets to bring her customers the very best. Her knack for creating displays was fabulous! She enjoyed her second career until she was 84.
The family is honoring her request to have no services. In honor of her memory, donations to the Dr. Seuss foundation through www.firstbook.org or Kingwood Center in Mansfield Ohio through www.kingwoodcenter.org would be appreciated. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family.
