Sally I. (Long) Deal, of Mansfield, left us much too soon at the tender age of 54, on August 17, 2015, at Crystal Care Center in Mansfield, Ohio. She was born December 21, 1960, in Crestline, Ohio, and was an area resident most of her life.
Sally was last employed as a S.T.N.A. at Mifflin Care Center before becoming disabled. She was a dedicated and loyal employee. Outwardly, friends and family knew her to be a determined, passionate, woman with a strong voice who genuinely loved people. Deep down inside, her generous, sensitive and kind-hearted nature when dealing with strangers made her perfectly suited for her job. Sally had a wonderfully twisted sense of humor and could be a bit ornery at times. The bottom line was that she loved being around people.
Sally enjoyed playing Bingo and was a master at several video games. She enjoyed watching "Destined to Reign" with Pastor Joseph Prince and was an avid fan of Dancing with the Stars, American Idol and TV Land westerns. She was a member of the V.F.W. in the past.
She is survived by two children, Angela (Terry) McCarn and Michael (Kayla) Crank, both of Alabama; partner and caregiver, Ken Wilcox of Mansfield; two grandchildren, Reagan and Riley; three brothers, George A. Long of Bartow, FL, John E. Long, Jr. and Jim Long, both of Mansfield; two sisters, Sue Greathouse-Clark of Coleman, AL and Jackie Long of Mansfield; her little pug dog, Chico "Bug"; many nieces and nephews; along with many dear friends including her very close friends and helpers, neighbors Evelyn and Don Miller.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Deal; parents, John E. Sr. and Fannie Mae (Champion) Long; and her oldest sister, Janet Long Robinette.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, August 20, 2015, in the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Ontario, Ohio. The funeral service conducted by Pastor Micah Pelkey will be held Friday in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Ontario Cemetery. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
