Sandra Elaine Norris Owens, RN, 66, of Lexington, Ohio, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2009 of a short acute illness. Sandy, or "Sue Sue" as she was known by many, was born October 10, 1942 in Polk, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late John and Grace Norris of Ashland, Ohio. Sandy was a loving wife to Jeffry Owens and a devoted mother and grandmother with a passion for caring for others. Sandy was a nurse in Mansfield for many years before serving as the industrial nurse at Gorman Rupp Co. for 15 years. In recent years, she volunteered at MedCentral Hospital, working in the gift shop and serving on the volunteer board. Many of us enjoyed Sandy's charm and smile when she helped at the Wert Farm market the past few summers. Working at the farm was an extension of her love for gardening and all living things. Sandy's life centered on her family, volunteer work, flowers, and gardening. Her efforts and personality have impacted on and enhanced the lives of many people in the community. She will be dearly missed by her family and her many friends.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Grace Norris of Ashland, Ohio; former husband, Dr. James Jones, M.D.; her close friend, Nancy Rupp; and her father-in-law, Raymond Owens. She is survived by her loving husband, Jeffry Owens; her brother and his wife, Jim and Sue Norris of Ashland; son, William Jones of Bellville; and daughter, Kristin Jones of Mansfield. Other close surviving relatives include stepson and his wife, Bryan and Cindy Owens; stepson, Bradley Owens; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. Gary and Sue Owens; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. Greg and Debbie Owens; and mother-in-law, Melba Owens.
