Sarah Luedy

Sarah Elizabeth "Betty" Barr Luedy, 87, of Mansfield, died Sunday, August 3, 2008. She was born October 11, 1920 in Columbus, Ohio, to Dr. F.P. Barr and Catherine D. Maxwell. Betty attended schools in Rochester, NY, Indianapolis, IN, Columbus, OH and graduated from Lexington High School. She also attended schools in Pittsburgh, PA and Ashland College in Ashland. She was a member of the Mansfield First English Lutheran Church, the Mifflin Township Garden Club, the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs, served as President for two years with the "United Neighbors" Club, Richland County Home Economics Group, the American Horticulturist Society and was active in 4-H and the Girl Scouts of America.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Clarence G. Luedy; three sons and daughters-in-law, Laurence G. and Nancy Luedy of Sea Girt, NJ, Thomas W. and Theresa Luedy of Long Beach, CA and Douglas K. and Donna Luedy of Mansfield; three daughters and one son-in-law, Sarah Sue Brubaker of Arlington, TX, Deborah K. Luedy of Studio City, CA and Rebecca L. and John Wolfe of Mansfield; thirteen grandchildren, Bryan, Amy, Kari, Kurt, Kim, Kelly, Stacy, Heidi, Jason, Ben, Michael, Adam and Stefanie; respective spouses, Connie, Joe, Chris, Chad, Fritz and Becca; thirteen great-grandchildren, Clay, Sarah, Holly, Elena, Ty, Emilee, Jared, Elizabeth, Austin, Olivia, Alissa, Lily, Malaina and soon to be born, Autumn. She is also survived by twenty-one nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; son-in-law, Harold "Bud" L. Brubaker; grandson, Matthew L. Brubaker; sisters, Martha "Mart" Drum and Ruth Jagger Walker; brother, James "Jim" Barr; and one nephew, Bruce Luedy.
