
Saraswathy Menon, 84, of Mansfield, died May 4, 2007 at Mansfield Memorial Homes. Born May 14, 1922, she was the daughter of Judge Balakrishanan Menon and Rugmani Menon. Mrs. Menon retired from the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing as the head of the Department of Speech Pathology. She received a BA degree from Victoria College in Palghat, India in 1946, a BS degree in Logopedics from Wichita State University, Kansas in 1965, and a M.S. degree in Speech Pathology from Columbia University, New York in 1967. She enjoyed social service, helping people in the community, gardening, and reading.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. Usha Rajan and Dr. S.P. Rajan of Mansfield, and Geetha and Dr. Ashok Kumar of Chennai, India; one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Rajan Menon and Dr. Kathy Popkins of New York, New York; five granddaughters, Radhika and John Paul Shaw of Michigan, Anuradha and Shyam Rajan of Chennai, India, Anju Anand and Mr. Anand of Chennai, India, Lekha Menon, and Zoe Menon, both of New York; grandson, Anand and Vaishalee Raja of California; four great-grandsons; and five sisters, Mrs. B.G. Menon, Mrs. Sarojini Nambiar, Mrs. Leela Menon, Mrs. Kamala Nambiar, Mrs. Meenakshi Menon, all of India. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Gopkumar Menon.
Private services for the family will be held at a later date. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements.
