

Sheila Henderson completed her journey on this earth Sunday, March 4, 2018 following a courageous battle against a long and difficult illness. She passed away surrounded by her husband and children in the comfort of her home in Mansfield, Ohio at the age of 63.
Sheila is survived by her father, Bernard Tabor of Mansfield, OH, her devoted husband, Joseph Henderson, her children Rachel (Nicholas) Bush of Columbus, OH and Sara (Steven) Brown of Lucas, OH, sisters Patricia (Harold) Wyrick of Mansfield, OH and Kim (Sandy Lewis) Tabor of Lexington, OH, sister-in-law Renee (Randy) Rose of Tiro, OH, seven grandchildren, Lila, William, and Elizabeth Bush of Columbus, OH, and Olivia, Emma, Sophia, and Owen Brown of Lucas, OH, special friends Kevin, Abriya, and Tristyn Pierce of Mansfield, OH, and countless other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly. She is preceded in death and welcomed into Heaven alongside her mother, Stella Stricklin of Mansfield, OH, father-in-law Frank Henderson of Mansfield, OH, mother-in-law Patricia Henderson of Mansfield, OH, grandchildren Dylan and Claire Bush of Circleville, OH, and sister-in-law Doris Clark of Columbus, OH.
Sheila was born on September 23, 1954 in Ashland, KY to Bernard and Stella Tabor. Her family relocated to Mansfield when she was a young child and she was a graduate of Madison High School, class of 1973. She was married to her childhood sweetheart, Joe, for 45 years. Together, they lovingly raised two daughters. Sheila retired from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections, and was co-owner of Smokin’ Joe’s Hog Wild Barbecue. She loved to bake, read, and spoil her grandchildren with affection.
Sheila possessed boundless energy, which she affectionately applied toward the selfless care of others. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and for the warm and loving home she created for the comfort of her family and friends.
A gathering of friends and family will be held Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S Lexington Springmill Road from 5:00-7:00 pm. The memorial service will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 10:30 am at the funeral home, with a reception to follow at Little Washington Congregational Church, 2323 Washington South Road . Pastor Aaron Rose will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Sheila's life.
