Stephen Peterson

Stephen E. Peterson, 69, of Perrysville, passed away Wednesday morning, July 3, 2013 at Samaritan Regional Hospital. He was born in Ashland on June 29, 1944 to the late Cora Irene (Beagle) and Earl Duane Peterson of Widowville.

He graduated from Hayesville High School in 1962 and immediately joined the U.S. Navy serving until 1965. During his service, he was an Aviation Electricians Mate, Squadron VS 38 aboard the CVS 20 Bennington Aircraft Carrier. Steve worked for 13 years at Mansfield Tire and Rubber Co. then became a rural letter carrier working in Mansfield and Ashland, retiring in 2005. He loved John Deere tractors, Harley Davidson motorcycles, a home brew and good time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Martha Yannitell Peterson, whom he married on May 3, 1969; dear in-laws, Kathy and Jeff Nameth of Arden, NC; and one niece-o and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dixie Ann Brook Snyder and brother-in-law, Tom Yannitell of Marion, Ohio.

In honoring Stephen's wishes the family will observe private services at a later date following his cremation. The Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family of Steve Peterson.
