

Steven Curtiss Hammond, 61, of Mansfield passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. Steven was born in Mansfield, Ohio on August 8, 1956. He was the son of William Hammond and Martha Robertson.
Steven was a devoted family man who always bragged on his grandsons and loved taking care of his great nieces. He fulfilled a promise made to his step-father that he would always take care of his mother, and he certainly did that. Spending time with friends and family was valued by Steven and cherished memories were made together. As a truck driver for 33 years, Steven was able to take in many sights thanks to his job. He was proud to have served his county in the United States Army. Riding on his Harley was an enjoyment and a way to relax. He belonged to the Patriot Guard and Bikers for Trump and attended the inauguration. Steven was a die hard Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and NASCAR fan. He attended Crossroads Community Church.
He is survived by his children, Eva Haney of Mansfield and Damian Hammond of Newport News, VA; grandson, Christian, Donovan and Nathaniel Haney; mother, Martha Robertson of Mansfield; father, William (Linda) Hammond of Cambridge, OH; sister, Julie Godbey of Mansfield; half-sister, Stacy (Curt) Ditto and family of Byesville, OH; nephew, Michael Godbey of Mansfield; niece, Summer Stone of Mansfield; great-nieces, Destiny, Kaylee, and Aryan; a special friend, Mark Salser; and his "furry" brother, Buddy. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Russell and Winnie Hammond and Russell and Miriam Emerson; and a step-father, Walton Robertson.
Family and friends may call from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street. Following at 6:00 p.m. will be a funeral service officiated by Pastor Ron Biddle at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
