

Thomas Richard Farley, 83, of Mansfield, passed away Wednesday evening, May 18, 2016 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus after a short illness. Born October 30, 1932 on the family farm near Fitchville, Ohio, he was the ninth of ten children born to William S. and Theresa (Gyurica) Farley.
He grew up in Fitchville and New London and graduated from New London High School. He went on to graduate from Findlay College where he met Esther Goodling whom he married in 1953.
He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Germany. He had worked for Faultless Rubber/Abbott Labs, was a self employed personnel recruiter and home builder spending 19 years in Acworth, Georgia. Following his retirement, he and his wife moved back to the Mansfield area in 2001 and enjoyed traveling the United States in their motor home. He also enjoyed cars and car shows. He loved helping people and did a lot of community service. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, Esther; a daughter, Tommi Johnson (Jim Krebs) of Ashland; two sons, Tim (Becky) Farley of Los Gatos, California and Terry (Denise Neal) Farley of Marietta, Georgia; two grandchildren, Jacob and Kathryn of Los Gatos, California; sisters, Cecelia, Eleanor, Flo, Betty and Jeanette; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William and James; and two sisters, Eileen and Lucille.
Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2016 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2016 at First United Methodist Church, Mansfield, conducted by Rev. Kent Joy. Burial will be in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Ashland at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 12 North Diamond Street, Mansfield, Ohio 44902.
