Thomas J. Shepherd, 72, of Mansfield, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at Hospice House in Ashland. Born October 1, 1936, in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, he was the son of James and Rhoda Shepherd. A veteran of the United States Navy, he retired from Cooper Security.
Surviving are a son, T. Jay Ute Shepherd of Greenwich; five daughters, Rhoda Jean Davis, Pam Shepherd of Bellville, Billie Phil Cordrey, Tammy Mitch Paramore and Bonnie Shepherd all of Mansfield; 13 grandchildren; four brothers, Riley Shepherd of Loudonville, Diamond Maxine Shepherd of Mansfield, Bill Juanita Shepherd of Crestline and Dial Betty Shepherd of Hilliard; three sisters, Mazell Miley and Dorcus Wynn both of Mansfield and Dailey Blank of West Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Floyd; and a grandson, Benjamin.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 13, 2009, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield, OH 44902. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at the funeral home conducted by Bishop Matthew Parr. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
