Thomas M. Strong, 76, of Mansfield, died Thursday, August 21, 2008, at Triumph Hospital. Born March 31, 1932, in Hamilton, Ohio, he was the son of Luther and Katherine Simonsen Strong. He was a member of the Mansfield Church of Christ. An electrician, he was a member of the Venus Lodge #152 and was past High Priest of the Royal Arch Masons, and a member of Ruth Chapter #17 O.E.S. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Korean War, on the U.S.S. Lewis No. 535 Destroyer Escort.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Bell Strong; an adopted daughter and her husband, Angela Sue and Bob Tolley of Mansfield; and an adopted sister, Mary Jane Newland of Milford. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2008, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors conducted by Pastor Russ Hawthorne. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Sunday where Masonic services will be conducted by the Venus Lodge #152 at 2:45 p.m. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio Masonic Home, Springfield, Ohio.
