Timothy “Tim” Poth passed away peacefully on Friday, February 27, 2026, at OhioHealth Mansfield. He was a devoted father, brother, uncle, veteran, and friend whose strength, loyalty, and love for the outdoors shaped a life well lived.
Tim was born on October 16, 1948 in Mansfield, Ohio to Norman and Evelyn (Stickler) Poth. A 1966 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School, Tim went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His bravery and dedication were recognized with two of the nation’s highest military honors — the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He carried the pride of his service with humility throughout his life.
Following his military service, Tim built a long and steady career with the United States Postal Service, where he worked faithfully for 34 years before retiring. Known for his strong work ethic and friendly nature, he made lasting friendships among co-workers.
Tim was a proud member of the Owls and the Sons of Herman, organizations through which he enjoyed camaraderie and community. Outside of work and service, he found his greatest joy in the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, and especially spending time at Lake Erie with his son. Whether casting a line at sunrise or sharing stories around a campfire, he felt most at peace surrounded by nature and the people he loved.
He is survived by his son, Corey (Jami) Poth; his sisters, Judith (Hursie) Duncan and Sharon (Terry) Oyster; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, James Poth; and a nephew, Curtis Duncan.
Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services by Wappner is honored to serve the Poth family.
