Wava Brock

Wava Venita Ransom Parker Brock, 92, of Mansfield, died Tuesday, October 12, 2010. She was born January 6, 1918 to Jennie M. Sellers and Clarence R. Ransom on a cold snowy Sunday morning in Loudonville, Ohio. After graduating from school, she went to work as a housekeeper, as well as a clerk at Grants Dime Store, Morris Market Clerk, waitressed at Mansfield Lahm Airport, as well as working in the Westinghouse cafeteria. After nine years, she went to work in the Westinghouse factory where she met and married her husband, Kenneth H. Parker on April 2, 1949. Kenneth preceded her in death on June 11, 1977. Jennie Ransom stayed with her during that difficult time, until her death at age 90. Wava's last job was devoted to caring for elderly ladies in their homes. She had a passion for taking care of her home and flowers, living at the same residence since 1977. There she met her second husband, Willis Brock on May 17, 1988. They were members of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and their marriage lasted until August 30, 1999 when Mr. Brock passed away of a heart condition. Mrs. Brock was a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star, Ruth Chapter #17.

She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Naomi Ransom and Hattie Ransom Daugherty; stepson, Rexford Brock and his wife, Joan; two step grandsons, Jeffery of CA and Jerry of MA; great-granddaughter, Hunter Fox of MI; special friends, Cheri and Christopher Free of Mansfield; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her first and second husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and six brothers, Harry, Paul, Clarence "Dick", Ralph, Kenneth and Glen.

Funeral services conducted by Pastor Dawn Donato will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2010 in the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Friends may visit from 10-11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, St. Luke's Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
