
Wilbur G. Beer, 89, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning January 27, 2002 at Med Central Mansfield. Mr. Beer was born July 7, 1912 in Mansfield, Ohio to Samuel & Amanda Foss Beer and has lived in Mansfield all his life. Wilbur retired from Vercoe-Advest after 31 years of service as a stockbroker. He was also a lifelong member of Elks lodge, played duplicate bridge and enjoyed spending time at his farm. He was recently honored at the 75th annual Madison High School football celebration were he served as the Grand Marshal and was presented with the 1928 Championship Cup for the team that he captained.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry & Linda Beer of Medina, Oh and Edward & Barbara Beer of Mansfield; one daughter-in-law, Sally Parilla of Mansfield, Oh., six grandchildren and spouses, Vicki & Jay Berger of Mansfield, Jeff & Jane Beer of Aurora, Ill., Michael & Mollis Beer of Woodbridge, Va., David Beer of Medina, Oh., Teresa Beer of Mansfield and Joanna Beer of Mansfield. Three great grandchildren, Joseph Berger, Mitchell Berger and Julia Beer. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Esther L. Howell Beer, one son Jim Beer, two sisters, Mabel Bird and Helene Beer, one great grandson, Sam Berger.
Friends may call at the Ontario home of Wappner Funeral Directors. 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd. on Tuesday January 29, 2002 from 3-5 & 7-9 P.M. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at the funeral home at 10:30 A.M. conducted by Dr. Wray C. Smith. Burial will be held in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wilbur G. & Esther L. Beer Fund at Richland County Foundation
