Bill served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He met the love of his life, Betty Shaw, in 1966 at the Farm Bureau where they both worked. They married on August 11, 1967 and were blessed with 45 years together. Bill greatly enjoyed his grandson, and being a grandpa was one of his greatest joys in life. Being active and caring for his home was very important to Bill and he took great pride in doing so. He was a man that believed in an honest days work and he loved to be busy and active. He was an active member of First English Lutheran Church where he helped with the Wednesday Noon Lunch Program, and putting together the weekly bulletin.
He is survived by his step-son, Doug (Bonnie) Shaw; sister, Luann Uncapher; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Bill in death was his grandson and buddy, Ryan Shaw; wife, Betty Fry; his mother, Elverta (Bushnell) Fry; his father and step-mother, Wilson and Florence (Mercer) Fry; and two brothers.
Friends and family may visit from 12:00-2:00 pm on Friday, February 1, 2019 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street.
