William ''Bill Griggs

William Robert ''Bill'' Griggs, age 79, of Lexington, died Monday September 18, 2000 at Lexington Court Care following an extended illness. Mr. Griggs was born June 17, 1921 in Mansfield, Ohio living in the Mansfield area all of his life. He retired from Ohio Brass. Mr. Griggs was a member of Moose Lodge #341, American Legion of Loudonville Post #257, Amvets Post #26, Mohican VFW Post #9943, and a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II.

Surviving are a son, Robert Griggs of Mansfield; four grandchildren and their spouses, Robert & Melissa Griggs of Mansfield, Jamie & Ken Wright of Perry, Ohio, Laurie & Greg Gleisinger of Mansfield, Ohio and Peter & Andrea Griggs of Mansfield; eight great-grandchildren; and three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Patricia & Alfred Angel of Crestline, Sarah & Donald Peters of Mansfield, and Eva Mae Coffindaffer of Mansfield. He was preceded in death in death by his parents, Dewey & Frances Reynolds Griggs; his first wife, Mildred Griggs and his second wife, Anna Mae Griggs.

Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home, conducted by Rev. Ken Wright. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park.
