
William R. 'Bob' Garrison, 70, of Mansfield died Tuesday, November 6, 2001 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Bob left after an extended illness and a long battle with cancer. He was born February 7, 1931, in Richland County to William Frank and Helen Linn Garrison. Mr. Garrison retired from Brink's as a manager in 1994 after 36 years, and was also a part-time real estate agent over many years with Appleseed Realty. Mr. Garrison was a member of the Ohio National Guard. Bob graduated from Union School, Class of '49 and was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Sonshine Band and held many offices within the church. He also belonged to the Lexington Senior Citizens, NRA, AARP-Madison Chapter, Shadow Flight of the Ohio National Guard and enjoyed playing his guitar with many local bands.
In addition to his wife of 48 years, Marilyn Cairns Garrison whom he married June7, 1953, he is survived by his son, Mark Garrison of Mansfield; twin granddaughters, Nikki and Kathy Garrison of Bellville; brother, Mervin Garrison of Mansfield; sister, Virginia Hunt of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents and brothers, Jim and Jack Garrison preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Friday, November 9 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home Saturday at 10:30 a.m. conducted by Rev. Shawn Bishop and Rev. Daniel Remaley. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or the donor's choice.
