William was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and worked at Tappan. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church and Venus Lodge #152 F. & A.M. William loved cars especially General Motors.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Ruth (Jolley) Cairns, whom he married on April 10, 1946; daughter, Vickie Gillespie of Michigan; granddaughter, Shana Kirkland of Michigan; great granddaughter, Chloe Kirkland; and brother-in-law, Robert Jolley of Mansfield. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Drucilla (Banta) Jolley.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield conducted by Pastor Andrew Jones. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
