William “Bill” Louis Cromberg II, 79, of Mansfield passed away Thursday, January 9, 2025. He was born on June 29, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Mary Norma (Bigelow) and William Louis Cromberg I. On March 1, 1969, he married the love of his life, Rebecca (Groff) Cromberg.
A proud Army Vietnam veteran with the 82nd Airborne, where he was exposed to Agent Orange in Vietnam, William had PTSD which greatly impacted him for the rest of his life. He enjoyed coaching basketball and baseball and was very involved with family activities. He enjoyed taking his children and grandchildren to the area parks and enjoyed going to Bible study on Wednesday nights. His favorite hymn was Blessed Assurance. Mohican was his favorite park. He was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School, class of 1963.
William is survived by his wife, Rebecca “Becky” Cromberg sons, Peter S. Cromberg and James T. Cromberg; sisters, Freda Ballard and Marietta Armstrong; grandchildren, Krista (Kenneth), Trinity, Aliyah, and Alyssa; great-granddaughter Kenna; step-great-granddaughters, Keira, Khloe, and Kaydence Weir.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Thomas Armstrong; sister, Sandy Cromberg; Step-Father, Frederick Armstrong; and Brother-in-Law Thomas Ballard.
Friends and family are welcome to a visitation to celebrate William’s life on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from 11:00AM to 1:00 PM with the service following at 1:00 PM at Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services by Wappner, 1327 Ashland Road, Mansfield.
