
William C.C.S.M. Doherty, 62, of Mansfield, died early Tuesday morning, January 18, 2005 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born May 5, 1942, in Stirling, Scotland, he was the son of John and Jessie Marshall Doherty. Moving with his family in 1969 from the United Kingdom, he was a resident of the Mansfield area the past 35 years. He was employed at Empire Detroit Steel for 32 years as a metallurgical investigator. He loved to play golf and watch soccer on television.
He is survived by his wife, Maureen Mitchell Doherty, originally from England and now residing in Mansfield; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark Doherty and Alastair and Holly Doherty, all of Columbus; two grandchildren, Madison and Logan of Columbus; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnny and Moira Doherty of Lexington, Ky., Frank and Pauline Doherty of Knoxville, Tenn.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Rena and Norm Roof of Mansfield, Sandra and Louis Moore of Bridge of Allan, Scotland; a sister-in-law, Bettie Doherty of Westerville; a brother-in-law, Stephen Mitchell and his wife, Maureen; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Bert; and sister Margaret.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 22, at 2 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m. His cremated remains will be scattered in Ballengeich Cemetery in Stirling Scotland at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dewald Community Center at the Salvation Army.
