William Dorn

William "Bill" P. Dorn, 57, of Ashland, died Thursday, July 3, 2008 at H. B. Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton. Born January 21, 1951 in Sandusky, he was the son of Lewis P. and Elvira O. Coulson Dorn. Bill was a graduate of Ashland College with a B.S. in Biology. He retired after 34 years of service with F.E. Myers Co. where he worked as a manufacturing engineer. He was an avid boater, fisherman, sports fan and reader. Bill was a member of First Christian Church and was the founder of Boy Scout Troop #586 at Christ United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Ashland Area Community Chorus and Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

He is survived by his wife, Anne Roland Dorn; three children, Robert Dorn Jennifer Meanwell of Westford, MA, Scott Carolyn Dorn of Findlay and Brian Dorn of Venice, FL; three grandchildren, Angelina Chapman, Chloe Dorn and Trevor Dorn; a sister, Vicki J. Dorn of St. Petersburg, FL; mother-in-law, Barbara Roland of Ashland; sister-in-law, Nancy Felix McElroy of Midland, MI; and nieces and nephews, Ted, Mike, Christina, Troy and Sarah. He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Robert Roland.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 7 at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services officiated by Rev. John O'Hara and Rev. Bill Schaefer will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at First Christian Church with additional visitation from 10-11 a.m. Burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
