
William Charles Knapp, Jr., 75, of Tucson, Arizona, died at 11:58 a.m., July 18, 2005 at Villa Maria in Tucson, Arizona after a seven month bout with lung cancer. Born September 30, 1929, he was the son of the late Helen M. and William C. Knapp, Sr. Bill was married to Anita Mae Smith Knapp on August 31, 1951, and she preceded him in death on September 17, 2000. Bill and Anita have an only daughter Kathie, who resides with her husband in Mansfield with their two daughters. Bill resided the last two years of his life with his one remaining sister, Harriet Roy, and nephew, Steven Roy in Arizona. His oldest nephew, Paul E. Roy resides in Tucson, Arizona. Bill's other sister, Helen K. Powers passed away on May 14, 2002. Helen's son and two daughters survive.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954. Bill and Anita lived in the Cuyahoga Falls area before moving to Mansfield. Bill worked with his father and mother at the family owned Precise Tool and Die Business in Mansfield from 1966 until it was sold in the mid 1970's. He worked at Essex, the Mansfield News Journal and the Beckley Cardy Group until he retired. He enjoyed fishing on his pontoon boat at Clearfork Lake. After moving to Arizona, he became a member of Broadway Christian Church.
Bill's ashes will now be placed with his wife's in Mansfield Memorial Park, with Military Honors, at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2005 officiated by Elder Gary Richmond. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home. Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with local arrangements.
