
William F. "Bill" McKee, 81, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on March 4, 2011. Born August 18, 1929 in Salem, OH, he was the son of the late William T. McKee and Angeline Tate McKee. Mr. McKee graduated Mansfield Senior High School in 1947 and attended Mount Union College. He was a graduate of Miami University and The Ohio State University Law School and was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He served his country in the United States Coast Guard and was a life member of the American Legion Post 16.
Mr. McKee served as the Richland County Prosecuting Attorney for 20 years and was twice appointed as Judge for the 5th District Court of Appeals in Ohio. He also served as president of the Ohio Prosecutor's Association. He and his wife were former owners of Pine Burr Golf Course in Lillington, NC. They later resided in Savannah, GA at The Landings for twelve years until moving to Columbus, GA four years ago.
Mr. McKee is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jeannine L. McKee, his four sons, Steven Debra McKee of Lexington, OH, Douglas Terri McKee of Cincinnati, OH, Timothy McKee of Mansfield, OH, and Jeffery Jean McKee of Columbus, OH, eight grandchildren, Kevin Stephanie, Kristin, Kyle, Brian, Cory, Nathan, and Aaron McKee.
Friends may call from 5-7 pm on Thursday, March 10 at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Friday. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. conducted by Judge James DeWeese. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Military services will be conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Squad. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. McKee's name to the Gorman Nature Center 2295 Lexington Ave, Mansfield, OH 44907 or the St. Paul United Methodist Church Altar fund 2101 Wildwood Ave, Columbus, GA 31906.
