William Shrigley

William Charles Shrigley, 84, of Mansfield, died Friday, January 26, 2007, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born January 11, 1923, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of H. Paul and Hazel Barrick Shrigley. He attended high school in Alliance, Ohio and retired from Shrigley Juvenile Shoes in 1986 where he was the owner/operator. William was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater.

He is survived by his goddaughter, Laura Jamie Natalie of Columbus. He is also survived by his adopted family, John and Maureen Burkhart, Matthew Karen Burkhart, all of Columbus, Ann Jason Hull of Cincinnati, Timothy Burkhart of North Carolina, Elisabeth, Amy and Joseph Hull, all of Cincinnati and Tyler and Colson Burkhart, both of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth S. Swan Shrigley, whom he married June 24, 1950 and his parents.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 17 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM with Dr. Pentti Maki officiating. Private burial will take place. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 525 W. Cook Road, Mansfield, Ohio 44907. Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements.
