
William M. "Tweety" Tivener, Sr., age 72, of Mansfield died Saturday evening May 24, 2008 at Knox community Hospital. Mr. Tivener was born October 24, 1935 in Mansfield to Leon and Grace Weaver Tivener. William retired from Lexington City Schools in May of 2007. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves and a member of the Ohio National Guard, and was a Civil War Reinactor as a Captain in the Union Medical Corp. William was a decendant of Nicholas Thevenin of the French 500 in 1790, SGT at the Mansfield Reformatory, and a Lieutenant for the Lexington Police Dept. He will be remembered best as a loving Father and Husband, as well as a spiritual elder & teacher.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Donna M. Maxwell of Mansfield; four children and their spouses, Kimberly & Steve Weiler of Morrow County, William & Sharon Tivener, Jr. of Brandenburg, KY, Glenda Jo & Stan Chance of Mansfield, and Debra K. & Alan Chance of Mansfield; five grandchildren, Kaysie Weiler & Josh Keen, Christopher Kitts, Susan Akins, Dustin & Robyn Weikle, LCPL Dallas Weikle a Marine serving in Iraq, Trevor Stewart, and William Maxwell Tivener; four great-grandchildren, Kali & Lilly Weikle, and Dylan & Faithlynn May Keen; one sister, Jeanette "Tootie" Crotty of Mansfield; and his Father-in-law, Joe Maxwell of Canton, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents.
