With profound love and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Claire Lee Johnson, who left us peacefully surrounded by family on April 28, 2026, in Tucson, AZ at the age of 78. She was a remarkable woman whose love, wisdom, and quiet strength shaped the lives of everyone around her.
Claire was born in St. Paul, MN on June 21, 1947, as firstborn to parents Dorothy and Lee Johnson (both deceased). She grew up as a big sister to siblings Lela (deceased), Barbara, Ronnie, and Mary. She was incredibly bright. As a child, she excelled at school and was a leader among her peers. This characteristic remained her core strength and followed her throughout life as well as her career in the hospitality industry for over 35 years.
Known for her kindness, quick wit, and love of literature, Claire touched every life she encountered. Claire had a particular fondness for shoes. She relished in the thrill of shopping, always on the lookout for the perfect pair to add to her collection. She was also known for her resilience and quiet determination. No matter what life placed before her, she faced it with courage and dignity. She taught those around her to stay strong and how to love deeply.
She is survived by her daughters Di Anne, Dorothee, Dolly and Kim, her grandchildren, Jayce and Damon, her beloved pet Mr. Maux-Maux; and a much-loved host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a loving, generous, intelligent, wise, and beautiful woman who brought joy to our lives. Before she passed, she made it known that she will be FINE! So, share a laugh and raise a glass in celebration of her journey home! Though our hearts are broken, we find peace in knowing that Claire will forever be with us in spirit. Her love shaped us, her wisdom guides us still, and her memory will remain with us forever. Rest in peace mom. You will always be loved, always remembered and never forgotten.
A celebration of life will be held in her honor at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to your favorite charity in honor of Claire.
