Born with a natural curiosity for how things worked, Marty spent his youth meticulously assembling models, a hobby that foreshadowed a lifelong career of precision and service. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, including tours in Thailand and Vietnam during the Vietnam War. As a Master Sergeant and bomb loader, Marty’s career took him across the country, leaving a legacy of discipline and excellence at every assignment.
Upon retiring from the Air Force, Marty didn't stop serving others. He found a second calling behind the wheel of a tow truck, where he truly loved "coming to the rescue" for those in need. A gifted mechanic, he viewed a car engine as a puzzle to be solved and took great pride in passing that knowledge down to his children, ensuring they were as capable and self-reliant as he was.
Marty felt most at home in the Arizona heat—the hotter, the better. He found peace in the desert landscape, sharing his home with his precious cats and spending his quiet hours "connecting the dots" of his family history through genealogy. He possessed a sense of wonder for the future, often looking toward the desert sky to watch SpaceX launches arc across the horizon.
Above all, Marty’s greatest pride was his family. He was a devoted father to Marty Jr. and Caroline, and nothing brought him more joy than watching his grandchildren grow and find their own paths.
